Topic: Kerry 2011 :D

So excited for Kerry! I am booking the accommodation this week. UCD are getting a really good deal for Glenbeigh http://www.glenbeighholidayhomes.com/ and said they would highly recommend staying there but do people want to stay there or in the ice boxes in Rossbeigh http://www.glenbeighholidays.com/contact.html? I am booking something on Friday so let me know what you think before then ! smile

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

So many pro's and con's.

I know the Ice box owners rip everyone off but if no one stays there do ya think there is a danger they may just not open the Ross? That would be disastrous! They got a bit of a scare last year, only renting out half the houses - may be worth the haggle with them.

Shortcuts are suppose to be hard... if they were easy they wouldn't be shortcuts... they'd just be THE WAY!!!

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

whats a "good deal" ? price them both, might just make sense to stay in glenbeigh if its much cheaper. Isnt a bad thing if they get a scare or 2 and have to lower their crazy prices.

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

UCD are being charged €400 for Glenbeigh but the ice boxes are €600. I am still working on getting the price down and should have the final price on Friday and I will let you know then.

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

Im surprised ice boxes won't go lower considering TCD where the only people that stayed there last year! So she lost out on a shit load of money! (8houses times 700EUR is 5600. The two TCD houses, 1400. Therefore she lost out on 4200)

I reckon tell her you won't be staying there and staying in Glenbeigh with EVERYONE ELSE and therefore she won't get anything.

We already have the two oldie houses on the hill just before the pub. I agree with Tiarnan. If no one stays there the Ross might not open!

Make sure you get your 5 a day portion of Flangie-Goodness

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

It's also worth keeping in mind that these houses in Glenbeigh are nice, warm, warm, really warm and also much cheaper to run than the ice-boxes - no overpriced meters or having to buy loads of fuel to make the .8m around the fire slightly above freezing. The owners are also pretty sound.
Not being beside the ross is a drawback though.

Someone should just turn around and say exactly this to the ice box owners - also mention that if no one is staying in Rossbeigh there is little chance everyone will congregate in the Ross Inn... even if it is open and deffo not EVERY night! This isn't dragons den shit like!

Warm beds are a +1/ Like tho!

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

Tiernan and I stayed I stayed in this place  http://www.maths.tcd.ie/~dave/canoegallery/main.php?g2_itemId=18607  last year. It is owned by the same family that own the ice boxes. It was very cold. It was newer and cleaner than the ice-boxes but not much else to recommend about it. The houses in Glenbeigh are far bigger and loads nicer.

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

I want a warm house with a hot tub. I don't make many demands but I expect those I do make to be met.

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

think Glenbeigh's probably the way to go...we'll never know which is better til we try it out, we can always go back to Roz next year

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

Ye it definitely sounds like Glenbeigh is the best option so I will go ahead and book it tomorrow smile

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

Glenbeigh is booked for the 27th December - 2nd January big_smile

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

Hi! I sent around an email with all the details about Kerry. Its the 27th December - 2nd January and we are staying in Glenbeigh. It costs €25 per night or €100 for the week. Post up here if you are interested or just send us an email smile

Re: Kerry 2011 :D

Is anyone heading down to kerry on the 27th? I have bank drafts for the owner that have to be given to her to get the keys. I can leave them in the boathouse if someone can collect them? smile
